Study on the Antidiabetic Chemical Constituents of Mirabilis Jalapa L.

Mirabilis jalapa L. is one of traditional Chinese medicines in common use with its radix. It is a member of Nyctaginaceae. Abundant in natural resources, this species has wide distribution in China. Some articles report that the radix of Mirabilis jalapa L. has therapic effects in diabetes. And Mirabilis jalapa has been used as traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic drug to therapy diabetes in china. Active components are hoped to be find in Mirabilis jalapa. These active components can be used as lead compound to discover new drug.In this dissertation, studies on chemical constituents of the radix of Mirabilis jalapa L. ten compounds were separated from the radix of Mirabilis jalapa by using open-column, preparative TLC methods et al. ten compounds'structures were identified on the ground of physical, chemical properties and spectral data. The ten compounds respectively are chrysophanol(1), physcion(2), stigmasterol(3), mirabijalone A (4), boeravinone C (5), Aurantiamide acetate (6), glycerin monoeicosate(7),β-sitosterol(8), 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid(9). 1, 2 ,6were isolate from Mirabilis for the first time.Aetherolea from radix of Mirabilis jalapa was study by GC-MS for the first time. Twentythree compounds were identified among thirty compounds. All Twentythree compounds were identified in the aetherolea of Mirabilis jalapa for the first time. The constituents of aetherolea from radix of Mirabilis jalapa are different from the one from flower of Mirabilis jalapa.
